ENTRY SPECIFICS
ELIGIBILITY AND CATEGORIES
To enter CURATE Awards, you must have been, or must be, in training as an Apprentice in Australia or New Zealand, in part or in full, during the awards period of July 2024 – June 2025. Signed documentation confirming your apprenticeship status will be required as part of your entry.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
As an entrant, you will be required to submit the following items, with your 2-minute video edit being the core entry component that will be judged:
- 2-minute video (hair and video edit created solely by entrant)
- Hi res finished model head shot – front facing (5MB MAX)
- Hi res finished model head shot – side profile (5MB MAX)
- Talent and video release form signed by entrant and model
- Declaration form signed by entrant and manager / salon owner
- Hi res head shot of entrant (5MB MAX)
- Completed personal information in entry portal
VIDEO EDIT REQUIREMENTS
Every entry is comprised of a video which showcases either your Cut & Colour or Cut & Style skills on a LIVE model. Professional models are not required, nor expected.
For Cut & Colour entries, judges must be able to see evidence of your cutting technique and colour application in detail.
For Colour & Style entries, judges must be able to see evidence of your colour application and styling creativity in detail.
To nail your video entry, please adhere to the following requirements:
- Create a 2-minute maximum portrait video which YOU will solely create, and YOU will solely edit to showcase YOUR work on a live model
- See below judging criteria to ensure all required content is included in your video edit
- You are the only person able to create the hair look, no assistance at any point can be provided
- Make sure the judges can clearly see your cut, colour and / or style work in the video so that they can accurately judge your work
- Professional videographers and editors are not permitted, however video editing apps are recommended
- In case the judges need to review, you must keep the full video of your hair demonstration (i.e.all footage pre-edit)
- When editing your video entry, you can use either Voiceovers or Text Overlays to provide the required information throughout the video. You can also include effects, but hair must remain the core focus
- Your video can be filmed at a location of your choice but ensure that the model and the look can be seen clearly
- Do not use this content across any personal or salon social media channels until Finalists have been announced
- Once your video edit is complete, you will be required to upload it to a Google Drive or Dropbox location, then share the link to this location on the awardsforce entry platform where requested
VIDEO EDIT JUDGING CRITERIA
Each video entry MUST include, and will be judged upon:
- INTRODUCTION [0 POINTS]
- Your name
- Your salon name / training establishment
- How long you have been an apprentice for or when you finished your apprenticeship
- INSPIRATION [10 POINTS]
- The inspiration behind your transformation / look
- HANDS-ON COMPONENT [20 POINTS]
- Create and present to camera your look on a live model
- Include reference to techniques, colours and products used during creation and presentation
- FINISHED RESULT [20 POINTS]
- Show a 360-degree view of your final look with reference back to your inspiration
- VIDEO EDIT QUALITY [20 POINTS]
- Points will be allocated for the quality of your video presentation, production and edit, all of which MUST be conducted by you only.
Please note professional videos produced by a third party CANNOT be submitted. However video editing apps can be used and are recommended, but must be used solely by you, the entrant.
